In 2000, Elizabeth Taylor was appointed a Dame Commander in the chivalric Order of the British Empire in the millennium New Year Honours List by Queen Elizabeth II. As royal insignia may only be worn at official royal events, Elizabeth had replicas made by Spink, with added diamonds and gemstones, so that she could wear them on other occasions.
