Halston Red Dress

Elizabeth Taylor wore this iconic red Halston dress to the 48th annual Academy Awards ceremony in 1976, where she closed the ceremony by leading the audience in a rendition of "America the Beautiful” in honor of America’s Bicentennial. Elizabeth worked with American fashion designer, Roy Halston to customize the gown, and debuted it on the Oscars Red Carpet in the legendary grand entrance, where she greeted fans ahead of the ceremony. The stunning strapless sarong dress featured an A-line cut and multiple layers of delicate chiffon, and was only held by two short ties at the bust in the front — Elizabeth’s Boucheron butterfly brooch provided additional security as well as her own personal touch.
